Overview

Strategi Institute has developed a compliance officer course specifically tailored for financial advice provider (FAP) compliance officers/managers.

The focus of this course is on understanding the obligations relating to relevant legislation, regulation and codes and building a compliance assurance programme proportional to the business size.

FAP compliance officer overview
  • Who should be your in-house compliance officer? What skills and experience should they have?
  • What a typical FAP compliance officer job description would look like.
  • Understanding the entire risk and compliance space with regards to a FAP and meeting your licence requirements.
  • What is required for a meaningful governance risk and compliance framework, including what is a compliance assurance programme and how to make it work.
  • Understanding the three layers of defence and who does what.
  • Bringing about culture change and how to motivate your staff to be compliant.
  • What is good conduct, how do you demonstrate it, and how do you report it?
  • What is the process for becoming a FAP, what are the timeframes, and what do you need to do to ensure your business meets those?
  • Tips for using technology to potentially simplify the compliance officer role, improve board reporting and reduce external compliance assurance costs.
  • What is the Goldilocks AML/CFT audit solution, and how to fully integrate AML/CFT obligations into your compliance assurance programme.

This programme gives you a choice of two different delivery modes:

Face-to-face classroom

Face-to-face classroom learning is ideal if you are looking to gain self-confidence and business credibility. Strategi Institute schedules expert facilitator-led face-to-face classrooms quarterly or as demand requires. You can attend a Strategi Institute public class, or we can arrange bespoke classrooms for groups, corporates, and networks.

The face-to-face classroom for the Compliance Officer Course (Micro-credential) (Level 5) is conducted over two full days, which includes pre-session and post-session readings/activities you are required to complete in your own time.

Virtual classroom

This is the best of both worlds – the flexibility of online learning combined with peer group interaction and an expert facilitator!

You will be provided with online resources, including a course manual via Strategi Institute’s online learning platform, Radar. In addition, the virtual classroom delivery includes eight two-hour sessions via Zoom. Participants will also have the opportunity to ask any assignment-related queries.

The delivery of each virtual classroom includes pre-session and post-session readings/activities you are required to complete in your own time.

Completing the Compliance Officer Course (Micro-credential) (Level 5) opens a gateway to promising graduate career opportunities. Equipped with specialised knowledge in compliance and regulatory affairs, graduates are well-positioned for Compliance Officer roles in the financial services industry. Organisations today are actively seeking professionals who can navigate complex regulatory landscapes, ensuring ethical practices and risk mitigation. Graduates of this micro-credential gain a competitive edge in the job market, with skills tailored to meet the growing demand for compliance expertise.
