Webinars

Webinars do not have assessment associated with the training. However, in order to attend the webinar, you will need to ensure you have reliable access to a computer/laptop, and a stable internet connection. As we issue a certificate of attendance to each attendee, you need to join the webinar from your own device so we can confirm full attendance.

The learning contract

To make the learning environment a safe, secure place to work in, we ask you to agree that it is a place where:

  • We co-operate with each other.
  • We respect the views and beliefs of others.
  • We can learn by our mistakes.
  • It is OK to change your mind.
  • Cultural difference is valued.
  • Discussions are confidential so we may share without fear.

Please note aggressive or intimidating behaviour will not be tolerated.

Face-to-face classroom:
Smoking and the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs are not permitted during training. Please turn off notifications on your phone, put it on silent, ‘do not disturb’, in flight mode, or even leave it in another room. You are required to attend each day of the course unless prior arrangements have been agreed. You are required to wear tidy, semi-formal dress during these face-to-face sessions.

Virtual classroom via Zoom:
Smoking and the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs are not permitted during training. It is prohibited to record the training to safeguard the privacy of the participants. Please turn off notifications on your phone, put it on silent, ‘do not disturb’, in flight mode, or even leave it in another room. You are required to attend each day of the course unless prior arrangements have been agreed. The facilitator may ask you to switch on your video camera to ensure you are actively participating in the training. You are required to wear tidy, semi-formal dress during these online sessions.

Face-to-face classroom:
Your trainer will make you aware of emergency evacuation procedures and any potential hazards in the training environment. Should you see anything hazardous in the training environment, please bring it to the attention of the trainer immediately.

Virtual classroom via Zoom:
The virtual classroom sessions are run over consecutive days. With sessions that are two or more hours, the facilitator will ensure that you get regular breaks of at least five to ten minutes every hour. To ensure your health and safety, we recommend you follow the steps given below:

  • Ensure you have a laptop in a good working condition (with power cable plugged in safely to an electric socket) as you will need this to attend the online classroom sessions and access almost all the course content and assignments which are hosted on Radar.
  • To maximise the digital learning experience, it is preferable to have two screens so you can view the Zoom interaction on one screen and have Radar and the course content electronically displayed on the other screen. Only have open apps and webpages you need for study.
  • Make sure that you have the working space you need to attend the online sessions safely and comfortably. The amount of working space needed will depend on the individual user, the hardware and furniture being used, but you also need to take into account the human need for ‘personal space.’
  • Put up a ‘Do not disturb. I’m studying’ sign on your door while you are studying, so others in your household know that you are busy.
  • Overcrowding caused by placing workstations too close together or in a tight space can contribute to stress and reduced productivity. Set yourself up in a spacious location which is quiet and free from distractions.
  • If your environment is noisy, then consider using headphones/earphones. Use headphones to stop others from distracting you.

There’s plenty of advice on keeping well on the Ministry of Health website.

  • Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Compliance Officer (Micro-credential) (Level 4)

All sensitive information disclosed is treated confidentially. Strategi Institute takes extra care to ensure information is handled properly and will then make arrangements with you as to how your needs may be accommodated.

Strategi Institute staff are available for guidance and support during normal office hours via:

The staff will assist where possible, however, depending on the nature of your questions (e.g. assignment-related), they may refer you to an assignment support session or request you email your question(s) to assessor@strategi.ac.nz.

We strongly recommend that students attend the assignment support sessions if offered for your course. These are free to all enrolled Strategi Institute students. Our experienced facilitators will not only help you with your questions and understanding of course content, but they can also advise you on where to access resources and support you with your assignment questions.

Strategi Institute delivers our assignment support sessions via Zoom based on demand. These are usually scheduled at regular intervals. There is a maximum capacity limit of ten (10) students per assignment support session to ensure all assignment-related questions are answered within the hour.

Private coaching is available to all students and can be delivered via Zoom or face-to-face. The cost is $180 plus GST per hour plus any travel expenses if the private coaching is conducted face-to-face. Contact Strategi Institute to arrange a private coaching session.

If you need guidance and support outside the expertise of Strategi Institute, please ask for details of other sources of support.

These include:

  • New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5)
  • Compliance Officer Course (Micro-credential) (Level 5)
  • Governance for Financial Advice Providers (Small Business) (Micro-credential) (Level 6)
  • Consumer Credit (Micro-credential) (Level 5)

Full details of the assignments are provided as part of the training. You must submit all work for assessment in English. All assignments must be submitted before the end of your enrolment period via Radar, Strategi Institute’s online learning platform, unless agreed otherwise. Please note, assignment feedback and/or results will be provided within fourteen (14) days from the date you submit.

Your assignment may be returned to you for rework. All rework must be completed and submitted within two (2) weeks of having received feedback. You may submit your assignment for assessment three times within the enrolment period. If you do not meet the assessment criteria after three (3) attempts, you will be awarded a ‘Fail.’ In exceptional circumstances, and on a case by case basis, the Academic Committee may approve of one more submission. All assignments must be completed and passed by the end of your enrolment period.

Note: All work submitted for assessment must be your own work. Cheating (including collusion and plagiarism, particularly the use of AI to write any part of your assignment) is regarded as a serious misdemeanour. Strategi Institute will fully investigate any allegation of cheating and has a number of actions it can take. Please refer to Strategi Institute’s misconduct in assessment policy outlined below.

If you take longer than your enrolment period to complete all assignments or resubmit your work, Strategi Institute may on occasion, and on a case-by-case basis, extend the enrolment period. A reassessment fee calculated on a cost recovery basis may apply. In this case, the student will be notified of a revised completion date, with any fees, in writing, and the student will be required to attend a mandatory support session before any further submissions are accepted.

Short courses

This includes: Closing the Gaps

The assessment is conducted online via Radar. Strategi Institute has developed several sets of assessment questions to avoid copying of questions and answers.

The assessment process involves:

  • A set of 30 questions divided into three sections.
  • All questions are open book.
  • The assessment time limit is 25 mins per section.
  • You are required to pass 80% of all questions in each section and you must pass all three sections. It is not acceptable to obtain 100% for two of the three sections and then obtain 70% in one section.
  • You will be provided with two attempts at each section.
  • If after two attempts, you have failed to obtain the 80% pass mark for all three sections, then you will have the option to pay $100 plus GST and receive a new final set of questions. You will be required to pass 80% of all questions in all three sections – not just the section(s) you failed.
  • Your assessment will be progressively marked, and you receive your full results via Radar on completion of the assessment.

When undertaking the assessment all answers submitted must be your own. Please refer to the misconduct in assessment policy below.

Webinars

There is no assessment for webinars.

Strategi Institute does not tolerate cheating or helping others to cheat.

Cheating in any form:

  • Undermines the cheating student’s learning outcome;
  • Devalues the learning achievements of other students; and
  • Undermines the reputation and integrity of Strategi Institute’s teaching and assessment processes.

Cheating can take many forms including:

  • Copying another student’s work;
  • Plagiarism; including the use of AI to write any part of your assignment;
  • Deliberately misleading through making up information; or
  • Impersonating another person.

Strategi Institute is committed to providing our students with top quality courses and assisting them to achieve successful outcomes. It encourages and supports students to develop their own thought processes and to demonstrate understanding of their learning in a way that will assist them with their everyday work.

Strategi Institute expects all candidates to complete their assignments with integrity and honesty. Any student struggling to complete their course work is encouraged to seek help from the Strategi Institute’s Student Support team.

Any allegation, or incident of cheating, will be fully investigated and; if proven, may result in disciplinary action being taken. Such action may include any or all of:

  • Removal from the course.
  • Ineligible to apply for re-enrolment in any programme or course.
  • Requirement to re-submit coursework following a mandatory attendance at a support session.
  • Requirement to re-enrol.
  • Reporting of the incident to the student’s employer (if applicable).
  • Reporting of the incident to New Zealand Qualifications Authority (if applicable).
  • Any other action deemed appropriate.

Any extension beyond the enrolment period is at Strategi Institute’s discretion. If your assignments have not been submitted and passed before the end of your enrolment period, unless you have an agreement with Strategi Institute, your enrolment will lapse. You cannot apply for an extension once your course date has expired.

A student may apply for an extension for many reasons, including but without limitation:

  • Personal responsibilities.
  • Illness, accident, or injury.
  • Work commitments.
  • Financial hardship.

Circumstances considered during the extension application process, include but are not limited to:

  • Student circumstances.
  • Wellbeing and safety.
  • Academic progress.
  • Compliance requirements.

To apply for an extension:

  1. Email support@strategi.ac.nz with the following information:
    • Your full legal name.
    • The name of your course.
    • The reason for applying for an extension.
    • Any supporting evidence for your situation (e.g., medical certificate).
  2. The Course Coordinator will acknowledge receipt of your application to extend, compile your enrolment information (including your academic progress), and provide this to the Academic Committee for consideration.
  3. The Academic Committee will consider your case, and you will be notified in writing of the decision and the associated extension fee if approved. The fee is calculated on a cost recovery basis, which will be no more than $300 plus GST.

The maximum extension period which can be applied for is three (3) months. The Academic Committee may approve a one, two, or three month extension at their discretion.

Strategi Institute is always on hand to discuss student progress, but please ensure you apply for an extension well before your enrolment expiry date.

Should you wish to extend the enrolment after the enrolment expiry date, an extension may be given on a case-by-case basis, or you may be required to re-enrol. If you have not made any progress, Strategi Institute will decline an extension request and may ask you to re-enrol.

Students can use the 10% re-enrolment discount if re-enrolling in the same course.

For students enrolled on Strategi Institute programmes via the unified funding system:

The programme MUST be completed and passed between seven (7) and eight (8) months from the enrolment start date. That is, a student cannot finish in months one (1) to six (6), or after month eight (8). Assignments cannot be submitted after the 8-month period.

Strategi Institute will only consider extensions for students who are enrolled on Strategi Institute programmes via the unified funding system if they have extenuating circumstances.

If you want to appeal against an assessment result, tell your assessor or a Strategi Institute staff member within fourteen (14) days of receipt of the assessed work. A fee will apply. Strategi Institute management will consider the appeal. If approved, the assessment appeal may be referred to a moderator, whose decision will be final.

Strategi Institute staff are available for guidance and support during normal office hours via:

We acknowledge and support the right of students to gain credit for existing skills and knowledge through the process of recognition of prior learning. If you let us know that you wish to have existing skills and knowledge recognised, a process of assessment of this prior learning will commence. Credit will be allocated to you if you meet the assessment requirements. An assessment fee will apply.

For existing credits, if you can show us that your NZQA Record of Achievement shows achievement of a unit standard/s that is included in our course, Strategi Institute will recognise the credits awarded and the student may be exempted from completing those unit or units.

Students who have achieved graduate profile outcomes with another training provider can apply to complete the remainder of their studies with Strategi Institute. You will need to provide your academic transcript identifying the achievement of the graduate profile outcomes that can directly meet the learning outcomes in our course. Please note that there is no guarantee that you will be awarded a transfer of credit.

Strategi Institute is committed to continuous improvement and welcomes student comments and feedback, whether it be a compliment, comment, concern, or complaint. Student feedback can be provided directly to staff, via our website, or by using the online student feedback form(s).

Students may be surveyed and asked to express their views and rate Strategi Institute programmes, training courses and services. ‘Surveyed’ means seeking feedback and opinions (including, but not limited to, by way of a questionnaire). Published results will maintain the confidentiality of individual students completing the survey. Outcomes will be used to inform the ongoing improvement of Strategi Institute programmes, micro-credentials, courses, and services and may be reported to Strategi Institute staff and to external agencies.

Employers of Strategi Institute graduates, providers of further education to Strategi Institute graduates and other stakeholders may be surveyed and asked to express their views and rate Strategi Institute programmes, micro-credentials, and courses. We wish to seek feedback on how well graduates have met the outcomes of their qualifications and how well our programmes have prepared graduates for work or further study. Outcomes will be used to inform the ongoing improvement of Strategi Institute programmes, micro-credentials, courses, and services and may be reported to both Strategi Institute staff and external agencies.

Resolving concerns

In our approach, a concern is a situation where a satisfactory resolution can likely be achieved through direct, informal discussion with the involved individuals. Such concerns often stem from misunderstandings and can be swiftly resolved. We aim to address any concerns that might affect your studies or our services supportively. We encourage you to reach out directly to the person involved or their manager to resolve any issues. Please contact us promptly. Our top priority is efficiently resolving your concerns, ensuring they’re handled with care for the best outcome possible. If you’re unsure about whom to reach out to, our friendly support team is here to assist:

If you’re not satisfied with the resolution of your concern, please contact the Head of Institute at support@strategi.ac.nz or +64 9 414 1300 for guidance or to lodge a formal complaint. When emailing, specify “Concern” or “Complaint” in the subject line and provide a detailed description with relevant information or evidence. Further details on our complaints process are available below.

Formal complaints

At Strategi Institute, we are committed to providing a supportive, fair, and equitable approach in all our interactions and throughout our complaints process.

To ensure that making a complaint is as easy as possible for you, we have established multiple channels through which you can lodge a complaint. You can choose to submit your complaint through our website, live chat, email, phone, or even in person.

If you have a complaint:

  1. We encourage all complaints to first be addressed with the Strategi Institute person you have been dealing with to try to resolve it within five (5) working days.
  2. If you feel this can’t be addressed with the Strategi Institute person, you may refer your complaint in writing to the Head of Institute dot.bach@strategi.ac.nz.
  3. The Head of Institute will acknowledge the complaint in writing (via email), inform you of the next steps, and attempt to resolve the complaint within fifteen (15) working days from the date of receipt of the formal complaint. If a full response is not possible in this timeframe, you will be advised, and a response will be provided as soon as possible.
  4. Information about the complaint (and the subsequent actions and investigation) is captured in the complaints register. This information, at a minimum, should include:
    • Name of complainant;
    • Date;
    • Complaint owner;
    • Date that acknowledgment letter sent;
    • Nature of complaint;
    • Action taken;
    • Client follow-up and feedback;
    • Date resolved; and
    • Improvements identified.
  5. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, then you can write to the Chief Operations Officer grant.henderson@strategi.co.nz, who shall review the complaint and determine an outcome. The outcome of this review will be communicated to you no later than ten (10) working days from the request for review date.

If you are invited to a meeting, you may bring along a support person to any discussions regarding the complaint.

At the end of our complaints process, you will receive a survey to provide feedback on your experience with the complaints process and the outcome of your complaint. We intend to use this data to improve our complaints process and provide training where necessary.

Critical incidents

A critical incident is a significant and often unforeseen event or circumstance that has the potential to disrupt normal operations, pose a threat to the well-being of students or staff, or impact the overall functioning of the institution. Critical incidents can vary widely and may include emergencies, accidents, security breaches, or other situations that demand immediate attention and effective response to mitigate their consequences.

At Strategi Institute, the approach towards reporting critical incidents is marked by a profound sense of urgency, responsibility and diligence. Recognising the significance of such incidents in the context of safety, security, and overall operational integrity, Strategi Institute places paramount importance on the entire process of reporting, responding to, and managing critical incidents.

Centralised recording: A centralised accident and incident register is used to store and manage critical incident records securely.

The Institute records the following details as part of the accident and incident recording process:

  • Name of the parties involved;
  • Age;
  • Date is the incident;
  • Nature of the incident;
  • Details of the incident;
  • Any emergency or first aid requirements;
  • Action taken;
  • Date of investigation completion; and
  • Result and method of prevention applied (if appropriate).

Immediate response: This involves having designated personnel who are trained to respond effectively to various types of incidents, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address the situation promptly.

Documentation: Detailed documentation of critical incidents is conducted by the first respondent in the centralised Accident and Incident Register. Relevant details about the incident, date, time, actions taken, investigation completion date and outcomes and appropriate prevention options and suggestions are documented within 48 hours of the reported incident.

Confidentiality: The privacy of the involved parties is maintained throughout the process without compromise.

Analysis and learning: After the initial response and management, Strategi Institute conducts a thorough post-incident analysis. This involves identifying the root causes of the incident, assessing the effectiveness of the response, and determining if any preventive measures could have been taken. The insights gained from these analyses are used to enhance existing protocols and practices.

Training and preparedness: Regular training sessions are provided to staff and stakeholders, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to handle various types of incidents. This proactive approach enhances the organisation’s overall readiness to address critical incidents effectively.

Continuous improvement: The Institute consistently reviews its incident management processes, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and incorporating relevant best practices.

Insights from critical incidents: Critical incidents are unfortunate events that may impact the learning experience. These incidents can include disruptions to classes, technical glitches, or other unforeseen challenges. Should an incident impact on our learners, we will act swiftly and communicate effectively to address these disruptions, to minimise their impact on the learning process.
