Consumer Credit (Micro-credential) (Level 5)

Overview

Strategi Institute, in partnership with the Financial Services Federation, proudly offers the Consumer Credit (Micro-credential) (Level 5). Gain comprehensive knowledge and skills to understand, navigate, and effectively manage consumer credit in today’s financial landscape. This course aims to equip learners with the necessary expertise to make informed decisions, mitigate risks, and promote responsible borrowing and lending practices in both personal and professional contexts.

What you will learn

This course is split into eight modules covering the following topics:

  1. Legislative framework.
  2. Stakeholders.
  3. CCCFA requirements.
  4. Responsible lending.
  5. Disclosure requirements.
  6. Repayment difficulties.
  7. Credit related insurance, repayment waivers, and extended warranties.
  8. Credit reporting.

The course is delivered via online learning, which involves reading through the course material and the completion of eight assignments. Online learning is self-directed and completed at your own pace within the course duration. The total duration of the course is 16 weeks.

In 2021 the New Zealand government implemented a Pastoral Care Code that backs up what we’ve always done.

The Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021 (the Pastoral Care Code) sets out the roles and responsibilities of tertiary education organisations (TEOs) in promoting and supporting your well-being, development, and educational achievement.

Eligibility

To enrol as a domestic student, applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand resident; however eligible visa holders may be entitled to enrol subject to all legal requirements being met.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency equivalent to NCEA Level 1 in English, as the medium of instruction is English. If you do not have NCEA Level 1 in English, then we will require IELTS 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; or equivalent.

Prospective students may be required to participate in an interview prior to enrolment. Enrolment is subject to approval from the Academic Manager.

The candidate guidelines set out the terms and conditions of your enrolment, including but not limited to the entry criteria, enrolment period, IT requirements, learning contract, health and safety procedures, assessment, reassessment, assessment appeals, extensions, withdrawals, refunds, and complaints.

We also cover the learning support, community support and guidance available to all students.

We review your final application for compliance assurance purposes once we have received all documentation and payment.

We send you an enrolment confirmation with your enrolment details including your start/end date, and Radar access.

  • Discounted pricing is available if you commit to enrol 10 or more students with Strategi Institute in one calendar year.
  • We can deliver bespoke training on your premises, offsite, or via Zoom. We can provide highly experienced facilitators or our train the trainer option is also available.  
  • We can build an equivalency programme to meet the outcomes of the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) version 2.
  • We can provide a tailored CPD offer via our online learning platform Radar.

Intake dates

This course has two intakes every month. Your intake date is your enrolment start date, regardless of the delivery mode selected.

For example, your intake date may be 1 June, and your classroom dates are 25th -27th July. The start date of your course is 1 June.

You must be enrolled in an intake before attending a classroom and accessing the course material/assignments. Each intake has a cut-off date for students to enrol by. This is to ensure your enrolment is processed before your enrolment start date.
